I went out today to an appointment with an organisation called ”CAMHS” which stands for Child and Adult Mental Health Service. It wasn’t an ordinary appointment… The silly blonde happy-go-lucky woman called it a ”choice session.” I didn’t much like it… She made me talk about past events and such… Ah well… She also bought up the issue of my self harming and asked me why I did it and, of course, I didn’t wanna talk about it… I didn’t make her job easy at all… But by the end of the session we had a decision. I’m going to have ”one to one” talk sessions with a therapist to talk about my problems. Not that I really want it but yeah… I have it… So I should make the most of it. Whether it’ll help or not is another story entirely…

Self Harming

I just thought I’d take the time to ponder upon this touchy subject (for me if not for anyone else) for a moment and write something about it… Self harming comes in many different forms: from a person cutting themselves to staying in a bad relationship, knowing it would cause themselves pain. When somebody says the phrase ”self harming” people immediately think of a person cutting themselves… People don’t normally know the more discreet methods of self harming. The only kind of self harming people normally notice is what they immediately think of when hearing the term. They never imagine a person burning themselves or purposefully staying in a relationship or situation they know is bad for them or even purposefully seperating themselves from other people of their own accord. I think people need to recognise the more discreet methods of self harming because when it’s discreet, it certainly can’t be conscious attention-seeking, can it? If nobody notices and the person wants to keep it that way, how can it be attention seeking? However, all forms of self harming are a sort of cry for help, whether or not the person consciously wants help, they may subconsciously know they need it. Any form of self harming silently screams: ”I’m hurting inside, I need help!” A silent plee for help. Which only a loud action can give. Don’t ignore the discreet methods. Fix it. Fix all of it. Or at least try…
